Y Ministry? – Book Development

During 2010 I set myself the challenge to start to write a book. The main purpose behind this was not to publish but simply to create a space where I could really grapple with why I believe youth ministry is important in the 21st century and what it might look like.

The book is in the very early stages of development (VERY early stages) but I am hoping to continue to use this blog as a means of grappling with the issues as I write about them.

Some of the main topics that I look to cover;

1. The Role of Rites of Passage in a 21st Century World -  How the Church could be involved in creating or continuing rites of passage.

2. Web Generation 2.0 – What genuine relationships look like in a world of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media. Is this generation LESS connected than ever before?

3. Building Bridges Between ‘Youth Ministry’ and ‘Adult Church’ – Looking at ways to allow teenagers their own space but not creating such a divide that teenagers can’t make the transition.

4. Channeling Passion for Good – Taking the enthusiasm and passion inherent in teenagerhood and pointing it in positive directions.

5. The Role of Parents in Youth Ministry and Teenage Discipleship – The similarities and differences to our 20th century model.
